Handbrake
The handbrake is a separate drum at the rear of the gearbox. Once the propshaft had been removed, the castle nut holding the drum can be seen.

When I removed the drum, it was obvious that the handbrake had been used to stop the car. Relining was a priority. Note that the mechanism is open to the elements at the front.
