GEAR CHANGING (see also page 51).

    SECOND   TOP
The gear lever positions are     NEUTRAL
  REVERSE FIRST   THIRD

N.B. Under favourable conditions, start in top and glide away silently; otherwise start in third and change up as soon as possible. On a steep hill, in order to avoid slipping the clutch too much, start in first but change into second as soon as the car moves. For further hints on gear changing see page 51.

CLUTCH STOP ADJUSTMENT.

The force with which the clutch stop acts can be regulated by adjusting the nuts A. The more the spring is tightened the quicker will be the change up.

If the clutch stop comes into action too soon in the movement of the clutch pedal, increased clearance can be obtained by unscrewing the set screw B and screwing forward the nuts C.
