RESERVE PETROL SUPPLY.

On the dash behind the carpet is an emergency cock controlling the last two gallons of petrol in the tank. The normal position for the handle of the cock is upright as at A, the reserve being then intact. Turning the cock into position B brings the reserve into use. Before re-filling the tank after using the reserve be sure to turn the cock into position A.

With the handle of the cock horizontal, the petrol supply from the tank to the autovac is cut off entirely.

THE AUTOVAC.

The inner chamber is under suction from the induction pipe. When full of petrol, its float closes the connection to the induction pipe and opens an air vent. The petrol is discharged to the outer chamber through a drop valve, which then closes automatically. Normally, the outer chamber always contains petrol, If empty, give the engine a few turns with the throttle closed, and wait a moment or two for the petrol to flow from the tank.

There is a drain cock through which sediment can be drawn off from the lower tank.

There is a Filter in the petrol supply pipe which should be cleaned once a month. Replace with point of cone upwards. Release the clamps to remove the pipes.

Squirt petrol through the inner chamber every three months to flush the drop valve.

Occasionally it may be necessary to clean the drop valve by scraping it. Remove the inner chamber complete after carefully loosening the cork joint with a knife.
